Dries Buytaert - Drupal

Dries Buytaert, the man from Belgium who was born on November 19, 1978, the founder of the Drupal CMS. Initially in 2000, Dries Buytaert and Hans Snijder made wireless Internet network (wireless) along with eight friends at the University of Antwerp. They then created a software called "message board", with the aim to communicate and exchange information about LAN project required.

After graduation Dries, the software did not have a name. Then Dries and his friends decided software "message board" was to be published as a website on the internet. Initially, Dries named drop.org. And in January 2001, Dries decided to release a software message board with the name "Drupal" in order for others to use and develop it. Drupal itself consists of droo-puhl word, derived from English, but the pronunciation with the Dutch language is druppel.

Drupal itself is a Content Management System (CMS) that can be used to build a dynamic website, which is used untul community web portals, discussion sites, corporate websites, internal applications, etc.

On December 1, 2007, Dries announced, along with co-founder Jay Batson launched a start-up called Acquia. Acquia is an open source commercial software company that provides products, services, and technical support for Drupal. Acquia wants to Drupal what Red Hat is to Linux. In 2009, Acquia help re-launched on Drupal Whitehouse.gov
